वर्षमा महिलाहरुका बारेमा कतिवटा पुस्तक निस्कन्छन् भन्ने कुरा तपाईंले ख्याल गर्नु भएको छ ? तपाईंलाई केहि थाहा छ ती मध्ये कतिवटा पुस्तकहरु पुरुषद्वारा लेखिएका हुन्छन् ?  विभिन्न विदेशी श्रष्टाका साहित्यिक श्रृजनाहरु पढ्ने क्रममा भर्जिनिया वुल्फको ‘आफ्नै एउटा कोठा’ (अ रुम अफ वन्स अन)भन्ने कृति हात लाग्यो । खासमा एक अर्कालाई आफूले पढेका कृतिहरु पढ्ने सल्लाह दिने क्रममा एलिजा बैनीले मलाई यो कृति पढ्ने सल्लाह दिएकी थिइन् । मैले अलि नजिक भएका हरेक स्त्रीलाई र केहि पुरुषलाई प्रिती कौरको ‘मिल्क एण्ड हनी’ पढ्ने सल्लाह दिने गरेको छु । हो त्यही पढि सकेपछि उसले भर्जिनीया वुल्पको कृति पढे नपढेको कुरा सोधेकी थिई । अबको सय वर्षमा, मेरो आफ्नै स्थितिलाई हेर्दा मलाई लाग्छ, महिलाहरु एउटा संरक्षित लिंगको रुपमा रहने छैनन् । उनीहरुले पहिले रोक लगाइएका सबै क्रियाकलापहरु गर्नेछन् । सुसारेले कोइला उचाल्ने छिन् । पसले महिलाले इन्जिन चलाउने छिन् । महिला एउटा संरक्षित लिङ्ग हुँदा स्थापित सबै मान्यताहरु हराएर जानेछन् ।  एक शताब्दि अघिकी लेखिकाको कृतिहरू आफैमा इतिहास पनि हो । त्यस बेलाको महिला ले...

“बाबु !” “हजुर !” “उः अहिले त हजुर भनी ।” “झुक्केर भनेको । भन्दैन कसैलाई हजुर सजुर ।” शितल दाहालको “स्वास्नीलाई तँ, लोग्नेलाई हजुर ?” पढेदेखि मैले यो तँ र हजुरको प्रयोगका बारेमा निकै घोत्लीएँ । आफू र आफू वरपरको सम्बन्धमा तिनको प्रयोग कसरी हुँदो रहेछ भनी हेरेँ । हामी आपसमा परिस्थिति अनुसार तिमी र त (त)ँ प्रयोग गरि रहन्छौँ । पहिले भेट हुँदा तपाईंबाट सुरु भयो । त्यसपछि उसलाई हो या मलाई अप्ठेरो लागेर तिमी भनेर सम्बोधन गर्ने सहमती भयो । झोक्किएका बेलामा दुईचारपटक उसले त भनेपछि मैले नि तँ प्रयोग गर्न सुरु गरेँ । तर यो सब विगत भइसक्यो । अहिले सम्बोधनहरु फेरिन्छन् तर तिनको खासै अर्थ हुँदैन । न मलाई उसले त भन्दा नराम्रो लाग्छ न त तिमी भन्दा ठूलो भएको महशुस हुन्छ । उसले भने बारम्बार मेरो मुखबाट त निस्किँदा सचेत गराइ रहन्छेः “बाबु त नभन न !” “हस् ।” उसलाई आफूलाई नराम्रो लाग्ने भन्दा पनि अरुका अघि हामीले अनौपचारिक कुरा गर्दा त भनेर सम्बोधन ग¥यौँ भने हाम्रा बारेमा के सोच्लान् भन्ने हुँदो रहेछ । एक दिन फोनमा कुरा हुँदा आमाले छोरीलाई सिकाउँदै, “हजुर भन्नुपर्छ ।” भनेर सम्झाँउँदै हुनुहुन्थ्यो...

गएको तीन महिनामा नेपालको इतिहासमा धेरै कारणले महत्वपूर्ण रह्यो । सरकार परिवर्तन देखि लिएर दशौँ वर्ष देखि प्रतिक्षित संविधान निर्माणको काम यसै अवधिमा सम्पन्न भयो । देशले प्रथम महिला राष्ट्रपति पायो । पहिलो पल्ट छिमेकिको आशिर्वाद विना नै सरकार बन्यो (?!) । विगतका संविधानहरु भन्दा धेरै कारणले राम्रो संविधान देशले पायो । आंशिक रुपमै भएपनि महिला, दलित, मधेसी, पिछडिएका जातजाती, तेश्रो लिंगी, आदिका अधिकारलाई केहि हदसम्म भएपनि यो संविधानले सम्बोधन ग¥यो । छ–छ वटा उप–प्रधानमन्त्री पनि देशले यसैबेला पायो । त्यसका साथै २१ जना मन्त्री, १० राज्यमन्त्री र दुई सहायक मन्त्री गरेर ४० सदस्यीय मन्त्रीमण्डल (इतिहासको तेश्रो ठूलो जम्बो मन्त्रीपरिषद) बनेको छ ।  संविधानसँग असन्तुष्ट पक्षहरुको आन्दोलनले तराई तनावग्रस्त पनि यसैबेला भइ रह्यो । भारतद्वारा गरिएको अघोषित नाकाबन्दीका मारमा जनताहरुले नपाउनु दुःख पनि यसैबेला पाए । खाना पकाउने इन्धन देखि यातायातका साधनका लागी चाहिने डिजल पेट्रोलको अभावले जनजीवन कष्टकर बन्यो । सरकारले राष्ट्रियताका नारा दिने भन्दा बढि केहि बिकल्प दिन सकेन । हाम्रो नेतृत्वको अदूरदर...

'I am Malala' was a nice read. I liked the part of the book where I got to learn a lot about history of Pakistan and Swat region to be specific. The history of Islamization of Swat was a bit painful for me. "FIRST THE TALIBAN took our music, then our Buddhas, then our history." It seemed like Taliban (meaning religious students!) did same in Swat what ISIS did or are doing in Syria. The only difference is that what happened in Swat is buried under the history and acts of ISIS are known to all. Actually this destruction started long ago in Mecca where statues of more than 350 gods were destroyed to establish one religion and the idea of one god. Many Indians blamed that Pak government is behind Taliban and this time it came from a Pakistani. Money that came to Pakistan in the name of 'War against terrorism' cost Pakistanis a lot. Only some high class official became rich and the rest had to take drone attack and every bad thing they could imagin...

Recently, Deepika Padukon's video about women's choice was released. It came as another instalment to Vogue empowerment series. #Going_Home starring Alia Bhatt and #Start_with_Boys starring Madhuri Dixit. Both the videos were nice. Going Home made me feel ashamed of being a male and Start wit Boys made me feel that even I had been through such situations where I was discouraged to stop my tears. I liked them and so did many other people. Going Home got more than 5 million views and Start with Boys got more than one million views. There were dislikes in the video and some contrasting opinion but was such opinion were not so popular in social media. When the third installment "My Choice" came, it went viral in social media and was seen more than 3 million times within two days. I first came across praises from everyone.
